Vienna’s famous winter ball season is still on! Eagerly awaited by thousands of Viennese locals and expats and a growing number of visitors, these ballroom dancing events have shaped Vienna’s image in the same way as the green and gold domes of Hofburg's Palace. While the ball season officially started on 11 November, the most popular balls take place from New Year’s Eve and run through until Shrove Tuesday (February 25th).
Although there is no official classification of balls in Vienna, grouping the approximately 400 events helps visitors decide which ball is right for them. Here is a very brief selection of some of the balls available. Not a blockbuster ball like the Opera Ball or the Wiener Philharmonikerball but no surprise our favourite this year was the amazing Wiener Immobilienball.

For the 15th time Wiener Immobilienball aka. the real estate ball took place last week in the stunning Vienna Hofburg. The domestic and international real estate industry meets here every year on the dance floor in order to make contacts apart from the daily business, to make acquaintances, to keep themselves up to date with insider talks and above all to have fun.
VIPs of the domestic real estate industry enjoyed themselves together with important personalities from many segments of business, politics, culture and overall society until the early hours of the morning. Among them you could have seen the President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce Walter Ruck, Real Immobilien Managing Director Michael Molnar, JP Immobilien Managing Director Daniel Jelitzka, Value One CEO Andreas Köttl, Salon Real President Ingrid Fitzek-Unterberger, Immofinanz-COO Dietmar Reindl and many more. In addition to all the amusement, the charity aspect was not neglected: since 2015, the traditional ball of the real estate industry has been supporting a charitable project related to real estate every year. This year, 70,000 euros were donated to the Sonne International project.
