World Heritage Sites in Budapest
Budapest has numerous World Heritage Sites, which are providing amazing experience and sights for visitors and locals. We would like to show you these areas in the city!
Danube panorama and Buda Castle district
The Danube panorama and the Buda Castle district are parts of the World Heritage Sites since 1987. Buda Castle district is the most popular monument in Hungary, which attarct thousands of turists every year. The Danube panorama is also very famous of its magnificent view.
On the Pest embankment of the Danube, we can visit the 100-year-old House of Parliament, the Széchenyi Square, the Academy of Siences and the beautiful Gresham Palace, giving home to the elegant five-star Four Seasons Hotel.
On the Buda side of the Danube, we see the Citadell, the Technical University, the Castle of Buda, the Gellért Bath, the Statue of Liberty, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Liberty Square, which are providing spectacular view. The most visited place is the Szentháromság Square, where we can find the more than 700-year old historical Matthias Church.
Andrássy Avenue and Heroes Square

The area of the Andrássy Avenue and the Heroes Square are parts of the World Heritage Sites since 2002. Heroes Square is of the biggest square in Budapest and in the middle stands the Millenium Monument. This is a very popular tourist attraction. |
The nearly two and a half kilometre long Andrássy Avenue connects the City Center with City Park, and divided into three sections:
- Between Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road to Oktogon, we find the tenement houses, and the very impressive State Opera House, but this part of the avenue also gives home to the Old Academy of Music and the Old Art Hall.
- Between Oktogon and Kodály Körönd, there is a museum called the House of Terror that recalling the communist times.
- Between Kodály Körönd and Heroes' Square, there are numerous luxury villas and parks, but the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts also stands here.
To sum up, Budapest has a lot of cultural attractions. We happily recommend to everybody, because this can be an amazing experience.
